Peacefully situated on acreage, this single storey extension connects to the existing house through a single, central aperture. The new wing of the building houses an open plan kitchen, dining and living area, and generous master suite. Utilities create an added layer of separation between new and old, with a laundry, mudroom and powder room dividing the two volumes. The simplicity of the gable roof is dramatised through raked ceilings and a central statement fireplace accentuating the height and form of the building. Polished concrete, stacked stone and raw timbers are just some of the materials which were carefully selected, not only for their high performance, but also creating a raw, sophisticated aesthetic for this private country escape.
