Everything started when Nick heard about the devastating earthquake in Nepal and decided to fly over as a volunteer to build temporary shelters. He was only planning on being there for 3 months. Started as a charity named From the Ground Up. The aim was to provide aid and development for people and the construction industry in Nepal. However, it soon became apparent that what Nepal needed most was the stability of consistent employment.
Interlock Construction was formed in Nepal and quickly gained success due to the superior quality of its work compared to local contractors. Within six months, we expanded to employ 30 people, creating environmentally friendly bricks and delivering high-end construction projects. This success highlighted the potential for greater impact, leading us to headquarter in Sydney, Australia.
We began by importing bricks from Nepal for our projects in Australia, and we are now expanding to include more products from Nepal in our construction works here. Our commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices drives us to continually innovate and create solutions that benefit both our clients and the environment.
Later on, in 2020, Nick met Troy, an architect with 10 years of industry experience working with Design services practices all over the world from Sydney, Newcastle, London & Spain. They joined forces to create Interlock Construction + Design. Troy became the head of design, bringing his architectural expertise, while Nick focused on the build. Later on, in 2021, Nathan joined the team, contributing his business acumen to handle operations and drive the company's growth. This allowed Nick to return his focus to the Nepal operations.
Today, Interlock operates in both Australia and Nepal, providing exceptional construction services while generating income streams for those in developing regions. Our mission is to continue growing, impacting lives, and creating a better world through our work.
